| 日本のAir Mail Recordingsよりリリースされた、2枚組のCTトリビュート・アルバム。メロディック・ハード・ロック・バンドのSilent Witness、ラッセル・アルカラ率いるこれもメロディック・HRバンドArcara、Tyketto時代にはCTと同じくプロデューサーにリッチー・ズィトーを迎えたアルバムでブレイクを果たしたダニー・ヴォーン、元Guns N' Rosesのギルビー・クラーク、'70年代、日本でもかなり人気のあったAngelのヴォーカリスト、エディ・オジェダ、CTの同郷バンドEnuff Z'nuff、プロ・デビュー前にはライヴでCTをレパートリーにしていたという元Kixのスティーヴ・ホワイトマン率いるFunny Moneyと、Disk Oneにはそれなりの知名度のあるメンツが揃っているものの、その他のバンドは皆小粒で全体的にインパクトに欠ける。凡庸なアレンジの、そこそこのクオリティのカヴァーが軒を揃える中、突出した出来栄えなのがグレン・バートニック(Styx)の"I Want You To Want Me" 宅録風・多重録音でミニマムに仕上げられたこのカヴァーはアレンジが絶品で、グレンの才能の豊かさを窺わせる。ロビンとニューヨーク在住のシンガー・ソングライター、ラリー・ドボスキンが共作した"I Can't Go On"はロビンのソロ「Robin Zander」レコーディング時のアウトテイクであるが、何故アルバムに入らなかったのか不思議なほどよく出来た曲。これも必聴です。 | |

| ロビンがQueenを歌う…というだけでも驚きなのに、スティーヴ・スティーヴンス、ビリー・シーンという超絶技巧ストリングス・コンビを従え、しかもQueenの作品中最もアグレッシヴな曲のひとつである"Stone Cold Crazy"をカヴァーしてしまった凄いアルバム。ロビンはバックのメンバーに負けじとパワー溢れる素晴らしい歌唱を披露しており、流石と思わせる。その他に優れた出来なのは、ネルソン(Nelson)兄弟のポップ・センスとキャラクターが実にハマっている"Crazy Little Thing Called Love" トミー・ショウがヴォーカルをとった"Spread Your Wings" キップ・ウインガーの歌唱力の凄さに圧倒される"I'm In Love With My Car"等。ジェフ・テイト(Queensryche)、グレン・ヒューズと歌唱力のある人ほど何故か"はずして"いるのが興味深い。 | |
